Grasslands are located all over the world and are usually on all continents and countries, all the way from Australia to North America, except Antarctica and the North Pole. The characteristics for temperate grassland biomes are that the dominate source of vegetation is grass and trees and large shrubs. In Temperate grasslands the rainfall is less than that of Savanah grasslands. The characteristics for Prairie grasslands is that this type of grasslands is located mainly in the eastern portion of the mid-west and that the grass there often grows to be five feet tall, the annual rainfall is 30 inches.
Tropical grasslands are usually located near the equator, in-between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. One huge area of grassland is located in Northern Australia and covers more than 247 million acres, an area larger than California, Colorado and New Mexico.

The abiotic features of Prairie grasslands, the temperature, fresh water, soil and the sunlight. These all contribute into keeping the ecosystem alive and healthy because without it all the biotic features would die and the biotic features of the Prairie grasslands are the American Alligator, Herons (bird), White tailed deer, Pelicans, Largemouth Bass and the Boa Constrictor, all these animals are able to survive because of the abiotic factors. Some of the types of Flora in the Prairie grasslands are White Turtle Head, Sneezeweed, Sweet Grass or Blue Joint Grass. Some types of Fauna are buffalo, elk, deer and rabbits.
